Description Position Summary

The position will be responsible for overall operations to achieve the goals and objectives of the Skin Surgery Center, specialists in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and skin cancer treatment.

The Director of Nursing will direct, coordinate, and control all aspects of Skin Surgery Centers ASC/clinical operations and to ensure the highest quality of care. The Director of Nursing will work closely with the Administrator on budgets and financial management issues.

Skills & Requirements

Active RN license in good standing.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing with master’s degree in nursing, health administration, or business administration preferred, not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate-controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.

Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or medical clinic environment.

 

Responsibilities

General Overview of Duties and Responsibilities

Developing strong relationship and team building among the clinical teams and physicians. Planning and coordinating all patient care activities.

Reporting pertinent metrics and activities at regular intervals.

Implementing/revising policies per accreditation standards and managing all related activities for full compliance (i.e., quality studies, risk management, CMS Medicare, and Washington State Department of Health regulations, etc.)

Job Functions

Organization Leadership and Personnel Administration

Manage teammates in accordance with ASC policies to lead a dynamic team environment focused on quality patient care, continuous improvement, and service excellence

Training, developing, managing performance of facility teammates.

Governance and Business Development

Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies. Develop and maintain appropriate policy and procedure protocols and manuals.

Collaborate with the Medical Director and governance board in review and revision of the medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.

Financial Management

Manage the purchase, maintenance, and distribution of equipment and supplies. In coordination with Administrator.

Quality Improvement and Risk Management

Develop, implement, monitor, and update Quality Improvement (QI) and Risk Management programs, ensuring policies and procedures are compliant with governmental and regulatory requirements.

Administer the infection control program and medical staff review of the Quality Improvement program. Identify and correct quality care issues.

Develop statistical indicators to use in evaluating the overall operations and quality of care provided and prepare QI studies, risk assessments, and report to governance board.

Facility Management and Safety

Identify improvements or repairs for a safe and aesthetically appealing ASC, report to Administrator for approval.

Ensure that appropriate recordkeeping is maintained, with incidents reported as warranted relative to the emergency generator, utilities, security, environment, or emergency preparedness drills.

Clinical Services

Ensure surgical programs and clinical services are compliant with respective regulatory bodies and accrediting body standards.

Oversight for managing nursing, central supply, medical records, and housekeeping.

Monitor the adequate function of surgical equipment and patient care equipment through contracted services and follow-up on repairs.
